Maintaining the long term monitoring of Antarctic fur seals and leopard seals on Bird Island, South Georgia, where I spent 18 months and overwintered with a small team of four. As Science Officer I was responsible for lab management and writing both monthly and annual reports on scientific progress for senior scientists in Cambridge and government officials of the Government of South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, based in the Falkland Islands. I also wrote a number of articles for BAS’ internal newspaper, keeping the company informed of events on Bird Island.
