South Sudan

Since July 2015 I have been flying the Mi-8 helicopter for United Nations Humanitarian Air Services/World Food Program. Flying wide range of missions like passengers (aid workers), VIP's (high profile UN workers and ambassadors) and cargo (food, water and medicines) transportation's. HEMS (medical emergency evacuations) and rescue flights of kidnapped aid workers. Flying for UNHAS in South Sudan is a very challenging job. As a pilot you have to be very precise and put great attention to details, because there are many no flying zones in South Sudan and they are changing day by day. Team work is everything, I had the privilege to fly with experienced and great captains. Flying in South Sudan thought me a lot; How to stay focused on the job, stay calm under pressure, no matter how difficult the situation stay always polite and respectful towards everyone. I consider myself very lucky to be part of UNHAS operation and I am looking forward for my next mission to South Sudan.

Flying for a Canadian Oil company. My responsibilities were to transport passengers, cargo and external sling load to remote land based oil rigs and to perform medevac flights for injured oil rig workers.

Co-Pilot and base manager. Worked as a Quick Humanitarian Emergency Response Pilot for World Food Program, Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders. Flying 6 days a week to the refugee camps a long the border with Sudan. Transporting humanitarian aid workers, food, water and medicines . My duty as a managers was to make sure for a efficient and smooth operation. Attending safety meetings and maintaining good relations with all involved parties. Further taking good care of our team and arranging on time the arrival of the helicopter spare parts for scheduled maintenance. It was a challenging job and a great opportunity to learn valuable lessons.
