Currently working in a dual role in both a custodial and community setting. My role in the prison involves working with pre-release cases involving prisoners who are due to be subject to Probation Supervision on release. I also work with life sentenced prisoners which involves carrying out risk assessments and preparing Probation Reports for the Parole Board, and I'm also one of the co-facilitators of the Lifer's Group which is run in the prison. My role in the community includes the assessment and supervision of medium/high risk sex offenders who are homeless and require supports in terms of re-integration and re-socialisation, and for risk assessment, supervision, and case management purposes.Prior to this I held another dual role where I worked as the Drug Court Liaison Probation Officer in the Dublin Drug Treatment Court, and I also worked as a Probation Officer on the Court Liaison Team completing assessments and Probation Reports for the Circuit Courts/Central Criminal Courts in Ireland. This job role involved meeting with offenders to assess whether they would be suitable for probation supervision or community service work, and assess suitability for the Drug Treatment Court.Furthermore, I also have experience of working as part of the District Court Assessment Team, which involves similar tasks to those on the Court Liaison Team, but primarily involved completing assessments and reports for those who were before the District Courts.

Previously worked as a professionally qualified social worker for Tusla. I worked as part of the Children in Care team, which involved working with children and families in foster care, residential care, and relative care. My workload was similar to my placement experience, however, as a qualified social worker I managed a very high and intense caseload. Typical duties involved organising child in care reviews, access visits, and home visits; updating care plans; completing referrals for after-care and various services; keeping up-to-date with report writing and case notes; attending Court on a regular basis and providing reports to the Court.

Previously worked as a clerical officer in the administrative department of Tusla, Ireland’s Child and Family Agency. This job role involved administrative duties including: word processing; excel spreadsheets; funding requests; maintaining file management systems; scheduling and attending meetings; taking minutes at minutes; dealing with telephone and email enquiries; organising travel arrangements for staff; and general admin duties. This job also involved utilising numerous skills including: computer skills, telephone skills, communication skills, organisational skills, time management skills, interpersonal skills etc.

Previously worked as a care assistant for the company All In Care which provides a service to those in society who are in need of home care, personal care, palliative care, post-hospital care, and dementia care. This job role involved caring for those with Dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, Autism, Multiple Sclerosis, Down Syndrome, and much more. Client Care Plans included tasks such as personal care, house-keeping, and companionship.

Completed a 14 week professional social work placement with the Probation Service. During this placement I worked as a part of the Assessment Team for most of my cases, and also the Supervision Team. My role during this placement involved preparing and completing assessment reports for Court; interviewing offenders for the preparation of these reports; supervising offenders after assessments; contacting other professionals, agencies and networks; working as part of a team as an efficient and reliable team member; and being able to effectively communicate with clients, co-workers, and other professionals. I was given the opportunity to attend numerous agency visits, prisons, the Courts; and I observed two Restorative Justice Reparation panels. I have also been able to successfully integrate social work theory into practice and continue to develop social work skills when using social work interventions and approaches.

Completed a 14 week professional social work placement in a statutory setting with Túsla, Ireland's Child and Family Agency. This involved working as a student social worker in the area of child protection, and individual and family welfare services. For 14 weeks, full-time, I worked as part of the Children in Care Team which involved working with children that were placed in foster care, residential care, boarding school etc., and also working with parents, foster carers, and other professionals. Some of the tasks undertaken as part of this work included: organising and attending Child in Care reviews; completing care plans for children placed in care; supervising access visits between parents and children; carrying out statutory home visits to children; interviewing parents in order to access parental capacity to care for children; completing referrals for counselling; completing network checks with other professions; attending court for care orders and acting as a witness in court hearings; meeting with schools in relation to the young people; and utilising family therapy with young people by completing genograms etc. This placement also allowed me to develop and enhance many skills such as report writing skills; communication skills; interviewing skills; organisation skills; interpersonal skills; and many more. Furthermore, I applied many social work theories to practice including attachment theory; child-centred approach; task-centred approach; strengths based approach; crisis intervention approach; empowerment theory; and family focussed theory.

Completed a 9 week community setting placement with the Elizabeth Fry Society of Peel-Halton in an open custody/detention facility for young females in Brampton who are in conflict with the law and the criminal justice system in Canada. My role in the facility was to act as a peer mentor to the residents where I participated in any counselling sessions that they may have had; organised activities for them to be involved in; attended the school programme with them and much more. I also visited many other parts of the organisation and attended court for the youth trial and bail hearings. In addition, I also worked in the office where I managed the phones, organised files, and compiled case management document reports.

Completed a 6 week residential placement as part of college course in a residential nursing home in Lusk, Dublin. This placement involved many roles such as: assisting the nurses and carers in the unit; arranging meetings between families and residents; working in Day Care which involved participating in activities with the residents such as aerobics and bingo; organising the dining area and distributing meals to the residents; and working in the office organising files and using the computer.
