Growing up, I always had this desire of wanting to help people feel better. Coming from a minority background, I understand the deep struggles that people like myself undergo when it comes to access of healthcare. When I decided that nursing was the right career path for me, I realized that this career was more than helping people but more of a selfless vocation where I am able to take care of patients and give them an opportunity to live a healthier life. I am majoring in Public Health with a concentration on health disparities and am graduating in the Spring of 2023. With the courses that I have taken, it has allowed me to gain a better understanding on our world’s health overall, along with the struggles that a myriad of groups face when dealing with sufficient healthcare. Currently, I work as a medical assistant in a family practice, where I work with infant to adult patients that help underserved communities receive the medical treatments that they deserve. With my fluency in Korean, it allows me translate and help families who do not speak English. Working in a fast-paced environment challenges and allows me to problem solve and assist the physician in a timely manner, while also giving the patient the best care.

  CompCare is a local medical office that provides healthcare for both pediatric and adult patients. At CompCare, we strive to deliver the best quality of care for all. As a medical assistant, I take the vitals of patient, along with getting to know and understand each patient's medical history and their reason of visit. I provide assistance for the physician and prepare materials needed for the visits to go efficient. • Assist the physician by taking and entering vitals into the patients chart, along with their medical history. • Implement a new system to reduce patient wait time and increase patient satisfaction• Discuss with the patient their medical concerns for their reason of visit.• Test patients with COVID-19 test, Strep, and or flu test prior to them entering the office for precautions. • Send medication over to patient's pharmacy.• Answer phone calls and set up future appointments.
