This post seen me responsible for engaging with visitors to RSPB Belfast WOW; aiding them in bird identification and use of optics, promoting membership and entry ticket sales. Managing and supporting visitor experience volunteers.Administrative duties such as ordering stock, till reconciliation, answering public enquiries through telephone and email etc.

Murlough Nnr

I carried out a research project at Murlough NNR for my Masters Degree. I surveyed areas of gorse for any Red or Amber listed breeding bird species. As well as this I was a volunteer carrying out practical habitat management.

Murlough Nnr

I was responsible for being the face of the National Trust at Murlough NNR. I was a trusted key holder ensuring facilities like toilets were opened promptly and remained in a clean, satisfactory condition throughout the day. I engaged with visitors selling car park tickets and providing them with information about the trails and the habitats and wildlife found on the reserve. I was also responsible for litter picking the boardwalk trails and beach during the busy summer months.

Lough Neagh Discovery Centre

I was responsible for guiding all types of age-groups around the reserve, providing education regarding the Lough Neagh ecosystem & planning activities (pond dipping, mini-beasts hunts & birdwatching). Other duties include outreach programmes for primary schools, participating in Wetland Bird Surveys & basic habitat management such as scrub clearance & tree planting

Divis And The Black Mountain

My main responsibilities included assisting the Ranger with reserve maintenance such as mowing and strimming grass, litter and dog waste collection and path/ fence repair etc. I trained with practical hand-tools, lawnmowers & the property's 4x4 transport vehicle. I was also responsible for visitor engagement, leading guided walks, cash handling & key-holding duties

Isle Of Mull

I was responsible for keeping the public well informed & comfortable during trips, by providing information about wildlife that could be encountered. I provided information on a wide range of species (birds, sea mammals, terrestrial species), key landmarks, the surrounding ecosystem & the impact from human beings. I logged cetacean sightings in “Logger” GPS programme and captured dorsal fin pictures for ID catalogue.
