Social Media Manager
I worked as the social media manager for Ireland AM for 11 months. With the ever-changing landscape of social media trends, I was given the opportunity to experiment and perfect the pages' style of social media posts and stories depending on what platform it was for. The platforms I worked with were Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat. This involved staying on top of emerging 'crazes' and analysing the pages' impressions and clicks on social media posts to inform future content decisions. During my time as social media manager Ireland AM's Instagram followers increased from 18.5k to 24k and Facebook likes increased by 8.45%, rising from 240,000 to 260,100. Overall my role involved: - monitoring, moderating and responding to audience comments- creating and/or posting shareable videos and images (Gifs included!) - analyzing the data results from posts to see what posts are making the biggest impact and using this information for next time- designing social media strategies in line with Ireland AM and TV3's brand identity, audience, and goals.- live tweeting throughout the show- uploading videos of funny things happening behind the scenes to Snapchat stories- scheduling and uploading Facebook posts to tease what's coming up on the show- conducting polls on Instagram stories and posting content suitable to our Instagram follower base- working with the marketing department to run competitions across our social media pages on behalf of clients
Researcher
As a researcher for Ireland AM I adapted to working in a fast-paced environment and working to tight deadlines, while also keeping up to date with all the latest news and trends. Ireland AM itself is Ireland's only morning television chat show, broadcasting live every Monday to Friday, 7am-10.30 am.My duties as a researcher included:- generating segment ideas - using iNews to update the show's running order- scripting lines for presenters- compiling concise notes based off my own research for the presenters- fact checking all information- conducting vox pops and editing packages for broadcast using Avid- conducting phone interviews with guests prior to their appearance on air- arranging last minute interviews with relevant guests in times of breaking news- creating strong relationships with contributors. This role has helped me to both develop and improve on a wide range of skills, while also gaining a better understanding of the broadcasting industry.
Production Assistant - Natwest 6 Nations
I worked as a Production Assistant during TV3's coverage of the NatWest Six Nations both in studio and on location at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland on match days. I also worked as a production assistant on set of TV3's 6 Nations promotional video shoots in the run up to the live broadcasts. This gave me the opportunity to work on location shoots, for example the National Gallery of Ireland, where I was required to coordinate filming in a location open to all members of the public. Responsibilities of my role as a Production Assistant included:- preparing and distributing briefing notes and scripts- booking hotels and making travel arrangements for guests- assisting costume designers, directors, camerapeople and other crew members- organising the caterers for crew and talent- cleaning up the studio after filming- helping prepare the set with lights, props, equipment etc
Deputy Video Editor
My role as deputy video editor saw me film and edit short news videos to accompany articles published in The College View, DCU's student newspaper. This involved:- discussing the projects with the editors and writers of the articles themselves - transferring film/video footage to the computer and examining the footage and deciding which shots to keep and which to cut- cutting and joining shots using Adobe Premiere Pro while keeping a clear idea of the storyline - develop titles and motion graphics using software programs, such as Adobe Photoshop and After Effects.Due to the College View's audience being primarily college students with a large presence on social media, many of my videos were therefore adapted for social media platforms, for example being short in length and the use of subtitles. This role demonstrates my competency as a videographer.A selection of my work can be seen below.
