About Ciara Silva
I am truly passionate about the intersections of health and food access and education. I am motivated to help others and fight the inequalities that we as a society have created. I thrive in a team environment, where I have the ability to learn and work with others. I received by B.S in Health Sciences to understand the public health aspect of health inequalities. I interned at the Alameda County Justice Center doing education courses for victims of domestic violence. This organization and the women encouraged my growth and led me to want to focus my work and future education on serving my community. Then I began volunteering and interning with non-profits such as Fresh Approach, La Clinica de la Raza and the Food Education Project. These opportunities further solidified my love and appreciation for food and how it brings our communities together.My strongest attribute is my ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds and to make them feel safe and supported. I have used this skill set to connect with others, and find ways to cultivate relationships despite our differences. This skill has led me to be able to work in a variety of fields and feel that I was a valuable part of each organization because of it.
