I contributed towards the annual assessment and submission of Information Security & Governance compliance, measured by the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT).I managed the team of Information Governance Officers and deputised for the IG Manager/DPO in their absence. It was my responsibility to ensure that the IG team understood the responsibilities and obligations of the Trust under the UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, Access to Health Records Act 1990 and Freedom of Information Act 2000. I drafted correspondence with regard to enquiries, co-ordinating all responses with private enquirers, police, coroners, solicitors, representatives from other public bodies, media enquiries and patients, progressing responses where appropriate and ensuring all outcomes are delivered within the statutory timelines. I reviewed all evidence and analysed the content in order to respond to complex queries using my own judgement as appropriate. I strived to maintain effective relationships within the Trust and externally, professionally representing SCAS where required. I advised a range of internal departments on legal and IG matters to assist with their workloads and competing demands. I also reviewed Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and provided advice and expertise to ensure that new projects, or updates to existing projects, remained compliant with GDPR and were rigorously equipped to manage data security and privacy risks. I undertook a number of secondment projects with NHS England whilst working at SCW. Firstly, I was responsible for undertaking corporate information governance analysis in preparation for the UK Government's inquiry into the NHS' handling of, and response to, the COVID-19 pandemic.Additionally, I worked on the Vaccine Rollout Programme handling the information governance matters, which included data protection complaints and concerns from the public.

I provided and received highly complex or highly sensitive, contentious information, and there were occasions when there were significant barriers to understanding especially during meetings in relation to the safeguarding agenda. I undertook high-level complex safeguarding investigations and provided safeguarding advice in other Trust investigations ensuring that the Trust was within the timescales for completion of these investigations. This included Safeguarding Adult Reviews, Safeguarding Children Reviews and Domestic Homicide Reviews. I represented SCAS at multidisciplinary meetings, often relating to instances of child death, and identified learning for SCAS following investigation completion.
