I oversaw the Discover section on Breakingnews.ie, a hub for viral and human interest stories that is carefully curated for maximum audience reach. During my time, I developed the section into the main driver of traffic to the site. It is also a large source of traffic for irishexaminer.com, which also shares the content. As part of a small busy team, I had excellent experience in all aspects of communications, from chatty social media posts to educational explainers as well as understanding and creating the tone needed for our corporate partners. That is where my main strengths lie; creating content of all kinds (news articles, blog posts, tweets, Instagram posts, Snapchat Stories, promotional material, press releases, web content) and maximizing exposure on each platform and can easily switch between writing styles. My responsibilities included:● Liaising with clients such as Cork Jazz Festival, Laya Healthcare and Heineken on sponsored content ideas, writing and enhancing the piece, and optimising social media promotion● Sourcing, writing and socialising stories in the digital sphere that emotionally resonate with readers, with a strong emphasis on video● Developing a consistent, distinct and conversational tone for the Discover section to increasetraffic and improve audience interaction● Monitoring metrics for both sites on social media and Google Analytics● Instructing colleagues in best practice for social media and highly shareable storiesKey achievements:● Successfully implemented new media platforms strategy (Snapchat, Instagram) - specifically developing and promoting a Whatsapp broadcast list● Wrote the most read story (1.5 million page views) and sourced the most viewed video (72,000 views) for our in-house video player● Team awarded Best Use of Facebook at 2015 and 2016 Sockies● Landmark Media's flagship digital brands now have a combined weekly digital reach of 37%, second only to RTE.ie
