In September 2017 I started as a one-year intern in botany and horticulture at Chester Zoo.During my time in this role I have had the opportunity to gain experience of many different horticultural tasks within both the Nursery and Gardens team. I began my internship with the nursery team where I am involved with the daily care of five plantheritage national plant collections (Nepethes, Pleurothallidinae, Copiapoa, Turbinicarpus and Matucana). As I have worked with each team member responsible for their collection, I have gained valuable knowledge about their daily management and the common issues that accompany each collection. I have also gained experience in day to day care such as watering, re-potting and pest control of many different plant species, from hardy natives to exotic tropical plants.As part of my time on nurseries I have also been involved with the daily care and maintenance of the Monsoon Rainforest and Butterfly House, completing tasks such as watering, feeding and planting. I have also gained experience in propagation techniques varying from seed sowing and taking cuttings to air layering.I have thoroughly enjoying working with native conservation projects such as the Black Poplar reintroduction scheme and the Barberry Carpet Moth Project, which involved the propagation and reintroduction of Berberis vulgaris to regions where this endangered moth is known to still be living.When I am working with the gardens team I am involved in a very wide range of daily horticultural tasks that continuously change with the progression of the seasons. During my last two month stint with the gardens team, I worked in a different planted animal house every two weeks. Each of the houses pose their own unique challenges and it has been extremely useful to see how each team member has adapted the planting in order to overcome these issues.

During my role as a customer service assistant at Fresh Student Living I was based in Bangor, Gwynedd. I assisted with the general management and maintenance of over 300 student rooms carrying out numerous different tasks. My main roles and responsibilities were as follows: - To Assist with the general management of over 300 student rooms - Provide a flawless standard of customer service both in person, over the phone and via written communications. - To Successfully participate in sales.
