Self-designed and directed research project funded by 2 grants from Eckerd College’s Ford Apprentice Scholar Program as the apprentice scholar to Dr. Liza Conrad. The project sought to determine the efficacy of legume intercropping as an alternative to the excessive use of nitrogen fertilizer in agriculture, and resulted in a publication in the Eckerd Scholar, Spring 2018.

Maritime Rescue Crewperson for Eckerd College Search and Rescue— executing on-water rescues and on-land radio communication during 24-hour on-call shifts every 72 hours, as well as additional administrative and training duties. Assistant in the laboratory of Professor Denise Flaherty, working with C. Elegans as model organisms for studying Parkinson’s Disease. Gained experience with laboratory techniques such as plate picking, PCR, fluorescence microscopy, gel preparation, and gel electrophoresis.
