At the beginning of my shift I am responsible for analysing my route and planning it to minimise mileage and driving time and be efficient when delivering. Once set, I need to number my parcels and load my van in an organised fashion in order to avoid wasting time once on the road searching for them. Once out on the road, I represent DPD as a brand at all times, making customer service and my interactions with others essential to leave a lasting impression. Once my route is complete, and all deliveries and collections have been completed within the given time frame, I return any undelivered parcels.

In a busy city centre store, I was responsible for working with and managing up to 20 staff members at once, it was my role to take charge of the shift, ensure great customer service and food and hygiene standards, as well as appropriate cash handling and management. I would be responsible for the floor plan of my shift, as well as rotating breaks conveniently for both staff and the store to maintain effective and consistent customer service throughout the day and night.

Shifts in this role covered early mornings as well as late nights, both opening and closing the store, ensuring jobs were completed before the scheduled end of my shift. Using the experience from this role set me up for my move to management in Newcastle whilst also studying at university.
