Project Support Engineer working with ATA.Great lover of sports, GAA, football and especially Golf.BEng & MEng in Mechanical Engineering from DCU.During my master’s at DCU I undertook an investigation into the viability of Hydrogen Combustion as an alternative propulsion method for future intercontinental aviation. I conducted a literature review on aviation as a whole, identifying intercontinental aviation as a problem area for decarbonisation. I proposed hydrogen powered ramjets as a solution. A mathematical model of a ramjet was built which was then used to design, build and test a small-scale model. Based off my testing I do believe that hydrogen ramjets could be used, should safety and storage concerns be addressed.
