At SelfHelpWorks I initially worked on and then led the “Portal” project, a PHP application that provided authentication and auxiliary tooling to users of a decade old monolithic .NET application. While there, I had the opportunity to build and maintain high-value features in both languages, write and support complex JavaScript build systems, improve the visibility of code metrics and code coverage, and work closely with the Ops team to quickly resolve issues and maintain multiple SLAs with customers (often large Healthcare Providers).I’ve been the lead on numerous features during my time at SelfHelpWorks, including a sophisticated rules-based messaging personalization engine, both a .NET and PHP version of an endpoint that received SSO requests via SAML2 (as a service provider), and a series of biometric trackers complete with customized graphs and reports.I frequently worked closely with the CTO to design maintainable, testable, cross-platform architectures and then build them, often for both platforms.I’ve introduced and supported various modern tools as part of my work, including Git, Node, Grunt, Gulp, Bower, and Composer.

During this time I primarily did PHP work, with some standard extensions into the related ecosystems: CSS, JS, HTML5, responsive design, Sass, deployment tactics and orchestration, MySQL, Git, Drupal, Wordpress, Laravel, Symfony, etc.
