I drive the UX direction and leadership of highly complex user centric design solutions for major global brands across multiple markets, such as Vodafone, Waitrose, Citi Bank, Goodyear Dunlop, etc. My work ranges from full scale high-traffic consumer web redesigns and iterative site evolutions, to large scale highly transactional web, tablet & mobile applications. My role spans from eliciting and codifying business requirements during discovery sessions, balancing various stakeholder interests and translating the requirements into effective online strategies, to orchestrating the UX design process within cross functional teams and engaging with clients during the pitching stage.Rooted in a comprehensive understanding of human perception and reinforced by user behaviour metrics, I create simple, innovative and elegant UX design solutions. My designs solve customer's problems and bring value to brands.Starting with a blank slate, I conceived, refined & actualised iQ Labs - our innovation centre, which harnesses the creative juices of the iQ team.I established iQ Studio - Ireland's leading usability testing facility, equipped with state-of-the-art eye-tracking & mobile testing solutions, which brings additional revenue to the company.Experience in telecommunications, financial services, automotive, and healthcare sectors, multilingual user testing projects, cross platform end-to-end solutions.

IoT Dublin is a community for those interested in learning more about the Internet of Things and connected devices. We organise free events for over 800 makers in which we have speakers from the IoT world - business & academic - inspire our members to get involved in the IoT scene in Ireland.

Being at the forefront of ground breaking gamification, I applied game mechanics and game design techniques, to make technology more engaging. Whilst taking advantage of people's psychological predisposition to engage in gaming, I solved real life problems, for example, teaching children about a historical castle through an interactive tour guide game.One of the projects I'm particularly proud of is when I applied gamification techniques to encourage people to perform tasks that they ordinarily consider boring, such as exercising. As the lead Nokia researcher I pioneered mobile healthcare research, and spearheaded the design of the mobile app under the pan-European collaborative healthcare research initiative MyHeart, funded by the European Council, in association with Philips.I designed the mobile user interaction & interface for a a digital application distribution platform MUPE that was later incorporated into Nokia Ovi. It was an ecosystem that allowed the development & distribution of apps & games to devices across multiple platforms, equivalent to an early Apple App Store.Back in 2001 I developed early MMS concepts, at the time a technology of the future, that were showcased at different technology events around the world to illustrate the future direction and evolution of mobile technology.I have two user interface patent applications, WO/2008/050175 & WO/2008/047207.

Sound designer & studio engineer, mostly post production audio for films, documentaries, tv & radio commercials. Trained by the great Paddy Gibbons. Summer job, and full time from January - August 2000.

Working for the Computer Science Department. Lectured & Tutored in computer science. Taught hands-on sound engineering & studio skills to MSc MusTech students. Managed the University's two Sound Recording Studios, and the state of the art Music Technology Laboratories. Concurrently I lectured in Music Technology at the Mary Immaculate College, Limerick.Alas, University life was not for me, and I sought more exciting challenges.
