I also prepared and led my own classes, often involving my media and office skills - I prepared presentations on different topics, usually relating to Ireland, in order to develop the students' inter-cultural knowledge. This often involved lengthy preparation sessions and producing accompanying worksheets to challenge the students' understanding of the topics. This position has given me valuable insight into the world of second level education, especially in the area of foreign language teaching. I was required to be organised, efficient and punctual. I had to work to deadlines and be reliable and responsible. It was necessary for my behaviour, both in and outside of the classroom, to be of a certain acceptable standard in order to earn the respect of both my colleagues and my students. I was also required to maintain the good names of the schools which I represented.I have greatly developed my ability to problem solve and think on my feet and this position has required a great deal of patience and understanding, which I believe has helped me to develop both personally and professionally.
