I was elected branch secretary for the 2017/18 term in South Leitrim Macra at our 2017 AGM. It is my job to note all minutes and provide a comprehensive report of all meetings. I receive correspondence on behalf of the club and I affiliate members and make sure our membership is up to date. I work alongside the branch chairperson closely as well as the branch PRO. This role is a very rewarding role

I was elected as representative for County Leitrim to the Macra na Feirme National Council in May 2016.I actively took a grasp of the role with both hands and had much work to do in my term.The role involved travelling to meetings nationwide for National Council, Rural Youth Sub-committee and Regional North West committees. As NCR I was the link between our County and club Executive and the National Council. I was also Vice Chairperson of the Rural Youth Sub-committee who deal with all issues regarding rural youth. We focused in particular on physical, mental and sexual health and wellbeing, travel opportunities and policy formulation for key areas such as rural broadband, car insurance for young people, mental health services and alcohol awareness.I was tasked with bringing forward all motions from our county to the council.As part of National Council I was part of the governing body of the organisation.

I was elected to the position of Chairperson of North Leitrim Macra na Feirme in July 2015 after holding the positions of Vice Chairperson and Assistant Secretary in the club previously.

As a Technical Agricultural Officer for the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, I worked in the Integrated Controls division in Longford and Leitrim. I was seconded into the Integrated Controls Division covering duties in Monaghan in 2019 from June to October. My duties involved carrying out inspections on Basic Payment related schemes such as ANC, cross compliance, local authority checks, BDGP, BEEP, BEAM and various identification and registration checks.I was previously in the Agri-environmental and Structures division with my work exclusively focused on the TAMS 2 scheme in the line of approving applications and inspections for payment and post-payment.I find the job rewarding and I am currently the "go-to" staff member in the division for technological questions and complicated files.

I was elected branch secretary of our local branch of the IFA in November 2016.

- Course facilitator for the Beef Data Genomics Programme:I delivered a training course compiled by Teagasc and ICBF for farmers who have been accepted to participate in the Beef Data Genomics Programme. It is designed to identify all the issues that may come up with farmers participating in the scheme and to aid them in decision making by showing them the various options available to them through several case studies. I also applied my own personal knowledge of the scheme to aid farmers in their decision making and overall knowledge of the scheme- GLAS planning:I worked with farmers to develop a cost effective and environmentally sustainable plan that falls within the criteria of the Green Low-Carbon Agri-environmental Scheme. It promotes environmentally friendly farming and in particular gives farmers on marginal land a means to keep farming and provide a source of income to stay competitive with farmers on better land. Throughout the 5 years of the plan the planner is in constant contact with participants so as to ensure they are adhering to the specification of the scheme and to ensure they continue to get paid.- Nutrient Management plans:As part of the GLAS scheme, a farmer has to submit a Nutrient Management Plan drafted by a registered consultant such as myself. It is a fertiliser plan that utilises soil sample analysis, animal concentrate feed inputs and slurry produced. Data is then used to compile a plan for lime and organic fertilisers produced and more importantly chemical fertiliser use and where to spread it.-BPS submissions:I submitted farmers applications to receive their annual subsidy from the Basic Payment Scheme with regard to all land owned, leased or rented and any changes in said land. If changes arise I then ammend the plans.-Carbon Navigator plans:These are plans carried out under the BDGP which detail farmers carbon efficiency and are amended to make each farmer more efficient and show where financial gains can be made as such

Agri-business operations: General counter and floor work. Relief work in stores under pressure due to staffing issues. I was project manager on recategorizing the storage space in the company's largest retail store. weighbridge operator in Aurivo Animal Feeds mill. Monitoring loading of bags on lorries for delivery to stores and merchants.Mart Operations: Acting in a managerial role with regards to all duties in 3 of the company's livestock marts. This role was given due to vast experience from a previous establishment and the very nature of my vast knowledge of these systems was also a determining factor.Mainly I acted as a middle man between drovers and customers and the manager of the particular mart in question.
