As a certified Infant/Toddler and Preschool teacher, I am responsible for the daily care of children ages 2 months to 8 years. This includes preparing food, toilet training, overseeing indoor and outdoor play areas, maintaining a clean classroom environment, and more. I also developed age-appropriate academic curriculum for various groups of students, allowing students to experience the world through hands-on activities, while developing fine and gross motor skills. Finally, I became proficient in communication with families, keeping parents and guardians updated about developmental milestones.

Working as a Kindergarten Early Intervention Program (KEIP) tutor, I was responsible for working with small groups of children who needed added support in early literacy and numeracy. I collected data using both formative and summative assessments to gain information about student growth and to drive instruction. I often acted as a co-teacher in the classroom, getting to know the entire group of children, which included ELs, students on IEPs, and students being recommended for special education services.

As part of Stonehill College's Education Program, I completed a semester of practicum experience in a Kindergarten classroom and first grade classroom. During this time, I completed a gradual takeover in which I began observing the classroom teacher, and ended with 1-2 weeks of full takeover, performing all duties and responsibilities that the classroom teacher would do on any given day, including lesson planning, classroom management, discipline, lunch duty, attending SIT and/or IEP meetings, and more. I taught a diverse group of students, including students on IEPs, ELL students, advanced students, at-risk students, students enrolled in the Therapeutic Learning Center (TLC) Program, and more.

Funded by the NOYCE grant at Stonehill College, the NUMB3RS Project focuses on STEAM instruction in the classroom. As a participant, I was responsible for collaborating with my team members and advisor to create engaging mathematics materials and lessons for a group of students (3rd, 4th and 5th grade) in a local after-school program. Our specific project was centered around rational numbers.

In this position, I worked with prospective study abroad students to provide advice, suggestions and conversation about the study abroad application process and experience. I also participated in various events such as Getting Started Sessions, Skyhawk Welcome Days, Pre-Departure Meetings, and Welcome Back Receptions to inform and assist departing and returning students.
