Profile bio

About James Pilcher

I have returned to what I have been called to do - a journalist. I dig deep for the stories that need telling in my adopted and beloved home of Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.Being a lifelong journalist has taught me many skills. I have used my skills of learning things quickly, communicating clearly, and adapting to new technologies in all my in my roles post-newspapers.But my experience doesn't stop with newspapers. I headed up the requirements and documentation process at textbook publisher Cengage Learning's $50 million e-commerce site.Previously, I worked with Cengage as a contractor for Ascendum, while helping Ascendum with its own internal marketing and product development as well.I handled internal documentation for the industry-leading KalioCommece ecommerce application. That included building a brand new documentation system for the first time in the history of the company. In addition, I oversaw Kalio's social media presence and strategy, and oversaw new product development.I've also served on the national board of the Society of Professional Journalists and I did spend most of the last 10 years at the Cincinnati Enquirer, most recently as the paper's business projects reporter. And as evidenced throughout my career, I can take complicated subject matter and make it relevant and understandable to general and specific audiences as evidenced with all of the documentation and marketing presentation work I have done recently, the ongoing coverage of the Brent Spence Bridge and the Delta Air Lines bankruptcy, or the 1996 Olympic sailing coverage and creation of a new Web site 15 years ago. Now, I want to continue to feed that creative spirit.Specialties: Wireless, Internet Technology, Advertising, Public Relations, Journalism, Aviation, Stock/Option Markets, Editing, Social Media
