Cost Engineer
Current• Prepare and present to upper management estimated and permanent product costs for all Upholstery Division new products, prototypes and furniture options. Work with Engineering proto typers to compile and analyze general material construction elements, labor costs, fabric estimates and frame costs to provide standard costs for Sales/Marketing for semi-annual High Point furniture trade show that determines what becomes general market release. Analyze performance to plan recommend corrective action to adhere to budget requirements. Complete RFQ’s for multiple lines of furniture.• Audit spec books, poly material, load into Bill of Materials. Set up PERT chart for all market introductions. Complete final costing on all furniture and frames (Cost Accounting).• Compiles/interprets cost margins for price book promotion set by SVP Marketing.• Prepare price quotes for special accounts, commercial, health care, residential lines as well as national accounts for corporate sales managers.• Prepare cost analysis on outsourcing cut & sew leather vs in-house costs for marketing.• Calculate material content to prepare and maintain extensive law label database for safety compliance.• Aid Corporate Accounting /IT/Supply Chain groups in reviewing/correcting manufacturing costing issues during semi-annual recost review. Actively participates in the Continuous Improvement process to achieve zero defects using problem solving skills to exceed customer expectations.• I created extensive cost estimating worksheets to compare existing styles to prototype new releases to capture all costs and pricing change assumptions. Work with engineers fabricating furniture to determine any cost deviations in advance of quoting process for accuracy.
