I am Assistant Principal for Teaching, Learning and Curriculum with 20 years experience teaching History within Secondary and College settings. I have experience in Curriculum Leadership, Teacher Training, leading CPD, Student Outcomes and Pastoral. In these capacities I have trained teachers, run CamStar and a range of CPD sessions, led Deep Dives across the Trust, implemented new homework, marking and assessment, observation and teaching and learning policies, liaised with colleges across England and worked delivering CPD for the Thurrock Teaching Secondary Association. I am a published author of two books, ‘Keeper of the Keystone,’ and ‘Key to Dragon Falls.’ I have had articles published in on-line and traditional magazines and won writing and poetry competitions.

History Curriculum ManagerPalmer'S College Sep 2005 - Apr 2015ThurrockAs Curriculum Manager I manage staff, write and update schemes of work and teaching and learning resources for the deportment. I observe teachers and feedback to them, undertake peer observations and actively support departmental improvement. I also conduct Professional Reviews and write the annual Self Assessment Report. I update the Quality Improvement Plan and set individual and department targets. I liaise with parents on a range of issues to ensure students achieve the highest grades they can. I manage the budget and Moodle along with student forums. I teach both AS and A2 History, C20th America, British, German, Russian and Medieval/French Revolution. I have also trained five numbers of staff on various training courses in conjunction with Greenwich and UEL, helping with observations, feedback and mentoring.I worked on the Core Observation Team being Ofsted trained to observe, write up and feed back to teachers across college. I have led training on the observation process and been given grade 1 feedback by Ofsted Trainers.I am a Learning Mentor and work with individual teachers and departments to assist in areas of improvement. This includes offering counselling; supporting, listening, offering advice and help with initiatives. I am the mentor for the humanities department and visit other department meetings to help implement initiatives to improve success, high grades and value added. Thus has proven very successful with the contract being extended.I have also been a GTP and NQT mentor within the department and cross college, assisting with teaching and learning strategies. I have delivered many CPD sessions within the faculty and cross college on the Core Observation Team, Managing Behaviour, Differentiation, ICT within the classroom, Note Taking and Independant Learning and the Role of Mentors.I wrote the plan and scheme for Palmers becoming a Teacher Training College before funding was cut, leading other teachers and working alongside UEL.

Pgce LeaderPalmer'S College Sep 2008 - Aug 2009Palmers CollegeI wrote the two year part time PGCE training course for post 16 trainee teachers. Working with UEL we screened, interviewed, assessed micro teaching, delivered lessons and resourced the programme. I managed the other teachers on the course and marketed the course.

Teacher And Gtp Mentor.William Edwards School Sep 2000 - Aug 2005ThurrockI taught English and History, planning lessons, resources and assessments, gaining the highest pass rate and highest grades in the department.As GTP mentor I trained over 20 staff at local schools using team teaching, observing and offering constructive feedback. I produced training programmes, led training sessions and brought in experts to help with training. I helped them produce their portfolios, work on their reflective journals and research their assignments. I liaised with Start Education to arrange their final assessments and organised the three day programme. This was very successful with many of the trainees now Curriculum Managers with two being Assistant Head Teachers.
