I am a graduate of the United States Coast Guard Academy (Class of 1987) with an Applied Science major. During my time as a Coast Guard Officer I served as a deck watch officer of a 378' cutter stationed in Seattle, WA and was trained and assigned the role of Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer and was a qualified Helicopter Safety Officer for our patrols in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. Other assignments included Human Resources Officer for District 14, which included all operations in the Pacific. This included many tasks not handled by civilian corporate Human Resources, I handled a myriad of personnel issues including: family life issues and supervising the civilian Family Life Specialist, drug and alcohol training including remote locations such as Guam and Cure Island, member interventions, handling family support and arrangements for families of diseased members, to name a few. My next position was at the Maritime Intelligence Center in Miami dealing with intelligence related to migrant and drug interdictions. I left the Coast Guard to raise my children and re-entered the work force part time in 1999 part time to work as a supervisor for the Census 2000. I managed Census Takers in an urban area of Harrisburg, PA. I re-entered the workforce in 2004 as an administrative assistant for Arora and Associates, PC a Civil Engineering firm. My work here has involved: proposal preparation for Pennsylvania and Illinois agencies, qualifications preparation for both Pennsylvania and Illinois Department of Transportations, community involvement support, right-of-way acquisition support, graphics preparation, budget management, schedule management, report preparation and of course general administration support.Our family is devoted to a philosophy of helping others. I was a leader in the Girl Scouts from Pre-K all the way through my daughter's High School graduation and a treasurer for our local band booster organization for years. My husband and I have volunteered for band booster organizations, youth quarter-midget racing organizations, the Civil Air Patrol, Canine Partners for Life and have formed our own Non-profit organization providing and helping people have and keep safe vehicles that can pass the rigorous Pennsylvania vehicle inspections. Our goal is to retire (eventually) and devote ourselves to the service of others.
