Assisted in the creation and programming of the new system in .Net and in the data mapping from the old system to the new one. Learned .Net and C# to provide programming assistance with the new system. Provided user support and training on the new system. Took over the maintenance and enhancements to .Net/ASP/SQL applications after senior programmer left the company. Set up new database (SQL) and web (IIS) servers for production and development environments. Coding is done in Visual Studio with Visual SourceSafe for version control. The office in now moving to a third-party application so no new development has been done for the past several years, only minor changes. Assisting with the move by providing workflow and data details and creating processes in the new application. Provide reporting and data cleanup as required. Returned to Duke University periodically to make enhancements to a Microsoft Access database and a Lotus Notes web site for the International Office. Changes included additional functionality to website, automation of workflow process, and changes to improve coordination with external data systems.

Worked as a consultant archiving historical files from an AS/400 to an Oracle (Phoenix) database. Used Microsoft Access and Excel to review and modify files and ActaWorks to load files into Oracle tables. Verified new tables using SQL Navigator. Set up user workbooks (queries) using Oracle Discoverer. Also worked on projects to download files from Microsoft Access to Pocket PC and create Crystal Reports on AS/400 data.

Contracted to OIT Solutions at Duke University. Met with clients to determine what software solution would meet their needs. Worked on various Lotus Notes and Microsoft Access projects, including web development. Created new databases and enhanced existing ones. Some projects were: Created multi-page Notes web form which used JavaScript to validate and moved data to Access using ODBC; various call-tracking Lotus Notes databases to monitor department activities and which included automatic workflow and emailing; database to track staff, work requests, and charges for nursing contractor. Also modified web sites using Dreamweaver, JavaScript, or HTML.

Worked on Lotus Notes project to create Intranet and Internet applications for company and customers. Project included Internet user interface to applications and access to AS/400 data. Created new programs as requested using COBOL, CL, and SQL. Researched problems and determined corrective modifications to existing programs. Worked on interactive green screen applications and download of AS/400 data files to the PC. Assisted on a project to modify third-party route accounting software using Borland C++. Created MS Access program to download data from AS/400 and refresh Excel pivot tables. Began learning Java and WebSphere.

Employed full-time at American Express in Greensboro several times in different departments. Developed and implemented a tracking program for fraud referrals using MS Access and a monthly department report using Excel and PowerPoint for the Express Cash Division. Designed an Access database for the Telecommunications Division to track service requests and monitor department activities against established goals.

Was the secretary for five managers in a fast-paced office with a workforce ranging from 150 to 700 employees. Maintained company and project files. Developed graphs, databases, and spreadsheets for tracking purposes. Published monthly newsletter. Set up a tracking program for OSHA and client required equipment and area inspections. Assisted in developing manuals and work procedures for project use. Upgraded PC software and solved PC problems.

Researched, set-up and maintained a relational database for tracking foundations for individual and group grants in Texas. Database was developed in Symantec Q&A. Compiled statistical information about the area for publication.

Given STAR employee award for creating a PC tracking system for equipment. Trained and supervised nine clerks and CRT operators on work procedures and project instructions for a computerized inventory system (IBM System 38), which included 500,000 square feet of warehouse storage and 97 acres of yard storage. Worked with system programmers on modifications to the existing computer system. Reviewed all major input projects, working with various supervisors to identify and resolve problem areas. Coordinated special projects of file clean up on computer databases.
