I had the honor of writing the first book on noted Cape folk artists Ralph and Martha Cahoon, under contract to the Cahoon Museum of American Art. At this point we're seeking a publisher.

Performed essentially the same duties as when I was the museum's permanent director, including planning the exhibition schedule for 2010. Curated many of the year's shows, including "Chasing the Mermaids," an exhibition celebrating the centennial of Ralph Cahoon's birth. In conjunction with that show, wrote an article for the summer/autumn 2010 issue of Antiques & Fine Art.

The Cahoon Museum is housed in a beautiful late nineteenth-century Colonial home. Among my accomplishments:* Presented seven or eight exhibitions a year, including some featuring new works by contemporary artists. Also curated retrospectives on such historical artists as Frank W. Benson and Arthur V. Diehl. Particularly enjoyed curating shows tracing the development of a theme (such as angels, music, windows and the circus) from the nineteenth century to the present day. Instituted the tradition of beginning each year with a contemporary theme show for the benefit of another Cape nonprofit, such as "A Feast for the Eyes" (food paintings) for the Family Pantry in Harwich in 2008. Organized the museum's first national juried exhibition, "Tree-mendous," which attracted entries from all around the country. My articles on two exhibitions were published in American Art Review. * Relative to exhibitions, wrote the interpretive materials and press releases, arranged for speakers, designed the postcards, trained the docents and hung the artworks.* Designed and wrote copy for the museum's quarterly newsletter, various publicity and fundraising materials, and the occasional ad. Over time, my designs won several awards from New England Museum Association.* Also wrote numerous membership letters, grant proposals and other requests for funding.* Instituted get smART! a field-trip program for elementary school children.* Gave many presentations on the Cahoons to various organizations around the Cape.* Was instrumental in instituting the Ralph and Martha Cahoon Society, a high-level membership group which became an important source of income for the museum's operating budget. Curated the exhibition "A Century of Impressionism on Cape Cod," which ran from July 11 through September 19, 1999, and broke attendance records for the museum up to that point. An article I wrote in conjunction with the show was published in the August 1999 edition of American Art Review.
