I am Cindy Riddle, a passionate Teaching Artist and Arts Education Consultant, dedicated to nurturing creativity and enhancing educational experiences through the arts. Under the moniker @chickencoopartco, I channel my expertise and fervor into various ventures within the realm of arts education.My journey in this field spans numerous decades, with a notable stint as the Assistant Superintendent of Visual and Performing Arts in Spartanburg School District One until my retirement in 2023. However, my impact extends far beyond administrative roles. I've also directed The Tuesday School in Tryon, NC, and owned the Chicken Coop Art Company, where I've had the privilege of exploring and expanding the boundaries of artistic expression.My academic pursuits include a Master of Education from Converse College, National Board Certification in Early and Middle Childhood Art, and a Bachelor of Arts from Lander University. Yet, my thirst for learning remains unquenchable, evident in my active participation in professional development programs like the Potential Administrator Academy and the Arts in Basic Curriculum Advancement Sites.Within the arts education community, I've held leadership positions in various professional organizations. Serving as the President of the South Carolina Arts Education Association and contributing to the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Advisory Committee, Partners in Education, are among the highlights of my involvement. Over the years, I've been honored with accolades such as the South Carolina Art Education Thomas A. Hatfield Lifetime Achievement Award and the Governor's Award for the Arts in Art Education.Beyond accolades, I'm recognized for my innovative teaching methods and have become a sought-after presenter at conferences. I'm deeply committed to mentorship, as reflected in awards like The Dr. Deb Hoffman Mentor Award from SCAEA. Additionally, my engagement with various community boards, including the Tryon Fine Arts Center and Ballet Spartanburg South Carolina Consortium for Gifted Education, underscores my dedication to fostering artistic growth beyond the classroom.As a trailblazer in arts education, I continue to shape the landscape with my passion, dedication, and innovative approaches.
