Responsible for overall management of Technical Service Laboratory. Assign and prioritize projects, act as contact for Industrial plant operations for disposition of non-conforming product, rework and scrap. Oversee quality complaint system for both Industrial and Polymer groups. • Participated on design and implementation team for Incident Monitor Database to deliver better entry and tracking of external complaints across all company divisions. Led the team which developed protocols for complaint entry and use of the database. This allows for better visibility and analysis of complaints for trends and execution of corrective and preventative action. • Developing a new panel lamination adhesive projected to gain an estimated $600,000 in new business. Responsible for test development and evaluation of our adhesive according to industry standards; comparing to current market leader. • Led a project resulting in the successful adoption of an EPI adhesive by ICC-ES for SIP applications through third party testing and certification. • Obtained acceptance of an EPI adhesive for AS/NZ Class II structural applications allowing our South American customers to export to New Zealand. • Manage a team of four full time and two part time technical employees.

Partnered with Sales and Marketing for development of new market focus in the structural adhesive segment. • Led the laboratory efforts for structural product testing and certification which resulted in a successful product listing for CSA O112.9, ASNI 405, Heat Resistant Adhesive (HRA) for a new formulated adhesive. This led to worldwide new business in excess of $500,000 in year two. • Promoted to New Product Development Project leader for improved product introduction. This role created more streamlined launch of new products to manufacturing and the market place through effective and consistent communication across all business functions. Managed as many as 6 development projects at one time. • Managed a team of three technical employees.

Technical Marketing & Sales role with focus on long term product development projects, building customer relationships, and production support and troubleshooting. • Led a project to gain business at a new $4MM account. The project included product development, distribution of test data through technical reports and presentations, and on-site customer trials. • Wrote technical marketing literature for a new private label product which outlined product benefits, limitations, and proper use which helped obtain over $500,000 in new business. • Managed two laboratory employees and assisted them in career development plans which resulted in promotion by middle management. • Elected to ASTM D14.30 Wood Adhesives Subcommittee Chairman and ASTM D14 Committee Vice Chairman. These roles included organization of meetings and schedules, industry wide correspondence for existing standard clarification and coordination of new standard development.

Technical leadership of urethane based product line, overall product knowledge, and partial responsibility for departmental budgeting. • Document Administrator for laboratory procedures responsible for maintenance and generation of policies and procedures which led to the successful re-certification and upgrade to ISO 9002 compliance. • Elected Membership Secretary for ASTM D14 Adhesives committee. Approved new applications and maintained roster for 135 domestic and international members. • Expert for urethane based product lines leading to increased product sales through constant customer interaction. Responsibilities included completing trials, making product and process changes and recommendations, follow-up calls, and report generation. • Led laboratory employees in project work which allowed marketing and account mangers to better understand product lines and their respective capabilities. • Oversaw the research and purchase of new laboratory equipment and repair and maintenance of existing equipment totaling $200,000 in capital expenditures. • Worked with database designers to streamline and organize divisional and corporate databases for successful ISO 9000 certification. • Served on cross-functional team to redefine corporate values and goals which were used to update and set baseline standards for performance reviews.

Answered troubleshooting and product recommendation telephone calls that came in to Technical Service hotline. Completed service request projects from external and internal customers. • Served on corporate SDS Task Force that updated SDS’ for company-wide product line. In this role, SDS’ are also generated for experimental and newly commercialized products. • Participated on AIM 2000 Technical Service team. This team updated job descriptions and training matrices for all job functions in the Technical Service Laboratories.

Assisted Paper Machine and Pulp Mill superintendents in the preventative maintenance and daily operation for a 335 TPD Semi-Chemical Corrugated Medium Mill. Served as a relief shift supervisor for a 16-member crew for the entire mill on off-shift and weekends. • Assisted with the research, development, implementation, and training for the mill’s ZEP (Zero Energy Potential) policy. Designed a computer-based, OSHA-compliant recording program for equipment lockout. • Led team that played an integral part in initiating a behavioral-based program that reduced the OSHA-recordable case rate from a high of 19.6 in 1994 to an all time low of 1.4 in 1998. • Served as a member of the management team that broke all time production records in 1997 and 1998. • Promoted a positive relationship with local unions by introducing and participating in problem-solving teams. • Assisted with the planning, organization, and management for monthly and annual shutdowns. • Supervised Environmental Summer Co-op and 13 summer employees (college students).
