As a truly avid reader growing up, I always thought my dream was to be a novelist. So I wrote a pretty bad one when I was 13 years old! I didn’t become a full-time writer, but my fascination with the characters I loved in the stories that meant the most to me stuck.To this day, what I’m most captivated by is getting to know the characters in great stories—what they’re like, what makes them tick, what they’re capable of, what they’re passionate about, why others should care. And that has everything to do with my actual career helping clients see and show others what’s best and most valuable about them. I believe we all have our own meaningful role to fill in the world. I help my clients discover what that is and how they can express it through branding/messaging, career/leadership development and team/culture building. I also train other coaches, consultants and facilitators to work with the unique tools and methods I’ve developed. My “claims to fame” include: • Created the innovative story typing development process used by dozens of blue-chip organizations such as Kashi, Meals on Wheels America, NASA, Procter & Gamble and the National Education Association• Co-authored the Professional Strengths, Values & Story Survey (SVSS) tool for defining professional and group strengths, values and motivational drivers • Trained and built a thriving community of story typing coaches and facilitators• Facilitated literally thousands of coaching sessions, workshops, trainings, planning initiatives, offsites and focus/discussion groups• Interviewed Jimmy Buffet in a bowling alley (yes, I was a journalist for a while after my failed foray into fiction writing!) What I love most is helping my clients feel more vital, vibrant and valuable in the world. I take real joy in helping people and groups discover things they didn’t know about themselves and shape them into a new direction, identity or purpose.
