Cindy is the Founder of Deleon Trade LLC and has over 27 years of experience in the international trade industry. Cindy served as a Senior Auditor and Assistant Field Director of U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Regulatory Audit Division in Chicago. During her time with Customs, she worked with many importers to develop and implement internal control programs. Cindy conducted and supervised numerous focused assessments, quick response audits, user fee audits, free trade agreement reviews, drawback audits, NAFTA audits, and prior disclosure reviews. She also conducted numerous Informed Compliance presentations to trade and broker associations. During her tenure, Cindy worked on multiple headquarters projects including hosting/training an Andean delegation of Customs officials from Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, and Bolivia on advanced valuation and audit topics. Cindy also participated in the October 2003 revision to the Focused Assessment national policy in Washington. Cindy was awarded the prestigious Commissioner’s Award in 2001.Cindy utilizes her audit experience assisting clients in strengthening their internal control program to ensure Customs compliance and pass the focused assessment and other audit types. Her technical expertise of the Customs audit process has helped clients achieve favorable audit results in an expeditious manner. Cindy is well-known within the Customs audit community and is a member of the Houston, Chicago, and National Customs brokers and Freight Forwarders Associations. Cindy is fluent in Spanish at a native level.
