I began my career as a sales person with Del Monte Corporation (yes, think fruit cocktail and green beans). After receiving the prestigious Rookie of the Year award, I headed south to Texas to travel the world as a sales trainer for Compaq Computer Corporation - at the time a small, dynamic, fast-growing computer company in Houston. I held multiple roles there including serving as the VP, Sales'​ lead liaison to our key accounts. I introduced & demo'ed our new products to our top clients, asked for the order, and coordinated all client board meetings. I served as Manager, Curriculum Development in my final role at Compaq prior to returning home to the Midwest. The opportunity with Cerner was to have been a 3-month contract assignment to assist with an urgent, 60-person sales hiring blitz. (This is where I fell in love with recruiting sales people - nothing like it!) Given that I'd led teams and had served in various sales/sales ops roles @ Compaq, Cerner offered me the opportunity to transition to a recruiting role. There I worked to identify great sales talent in a time of extreme growth within the sales org. Over the course of my 12 great years at Cerner, I became a full-time associate, assumed the role of executive recruiter, & eventually held the position of recruiting leader, responsible for executive recruiting, consulting, sales & clinical roles. While I never had a master plan to become a recruiter, I truly love & am very passionate about my work. I resigned my position at Cerner in May 2008 to come home to spend time with my 3, wild teenagers. Quite by accident, I then fell back into recruiting, as leaders with whom I've worked in the past began to call asking if I could help. After 6 years of working with many terrific healthcare IT companies via my firm, “Twin Island Executive Search,” I joined my long-time client, Allscripts, to work exclusively with them on their recruiting needs. I served as an Allscripts insider for over 7 great years. Due to the acquisition (May 2022) of Allscripts "Hospitals and Large Physician Groups" business units by Altera Digital Health, I'm now off on a new adventure (and loving it)!
