Sr. Instructional DesignerAscension Health/Seton Family Of Hospitals Oct 2007 - Aug 2009St. Louis, Mo, UsWhile working at Seton I designed and developed instructor-led and web-based training materials for physician and clinicians on the use of COMPASS, their Electronic Medical Record software (EMR).After the training team began the eLearning process development, I questioned why we were not teaching the procedure with the process. It was explained that the issue was every hospital had different procedures. Seton main staff had been performing hospital duties for many years and the medical staff used the procedure they were most comfortable with. When Seton Northwest opened in 1981, new procedures were implemented based on management experience. Over the years every new hospital implemented a different set of procedures. Processes were the same, procedures were all over the map! After long management discussions, it was decided that the established hospitals would be addressed at a later date and we would concentrate on the next new opening, Seton Williamson. Most of the staff hired for the 2009 go-live of Seton Williamson were younger and had been brought up with technology, so they were the perfect candidate for processes and procedures. The legacy training had been developed in Mzinga Firefly. Licenses were expensive and new technology was more robust and easier to use. I proposed Captivate as a replacement and they liked it. Most of the legacy training wasn’t worth updating, so one Firefly license was renewed for me, and multiple Captivate licenses for the group.I also:• Lead the team to standardized project templates for storyboard and course layout• Developed a central repository for: • image library • standard verbiage • software tips & tricks • file management infrastructure• Delivered training and provided support for physicians during new hospital opening• Saved $48K in software license cost through new development software selection process• Reduced storage footprint through file management and archive process structure redesign -
