In my current role with the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, I oversee the Reach Out & Read program, build fundraising and marketing tools for all the pediatrician members, and try to elevate the voice of children and families in health and wellness initiatives across the state.

Reach Out & Read is a program of the Academy of Pediatrics, and I have been able to help grow the program over the past two years to gain more visibility in Illinois, and build the budget to include more funding enabling us to work with over 120 clinic partners, distribute more tools, books and resources to over 140,000 children and families, and engage.

As a fundraising consultant, I get the chance to work with organizations that are doing such amazing work in Illinois - from theater companies to volunteer organizations, grassroots community organizing efforts and early childhood initiatives. I specialize in helping smaller nonprofits (less than $1M budgets) build fundraising strategies that are.

Implemented a mission-focused fundraising agenda to engage foundation, corporate, government and individual giving. Provided expertise in organizational strategy, created and managed a business planning process, and developed HC One’s vibrant Associate Board, a leadership pipeline for the organization. Achieved significant planning funding to direct HC.

 Cultivated and built new business partners. Raised over $75,000 in FY 2008-09 from new and non-Board affiliated companies. Responsible for Alumni Initiative – developed database of members, strategic plan, budget, and calendar of activities and events.  Worked exclusively with the President on high-level proposals for new educational program.

 Raised more than $5 million through securing individual donor (Sponsor) contributions. Planned and implemented events (New Sponsor Orientation, cocktail receptions, student job shadowing afternoons, career and resume workshop for students and their mentors), information sessions at top financial and law firms in New York City, and one-to-one referrals.

 Led fundraising initiatives with other team members to raise $6 million in FY 2004 and $7.4 million in FY 2005, and $8 million in FY 2006.  Charged with leading corporate and foundation prospecting efforts, which brought in $225,000 in FY 2005. Focused primarily in corporate and foundation grants and managed over 200 deadlines for Teach For America’s.

Responsible for a two-fold marketing and business development program to gain new business and exposure for the company through a creative and strategic process.
