The Write Direction is a nonprofit designed to help underserved high school students in college admissions. Through group workshops and one-on-one counseling, students learn to tell their own stories, in their own voices, as they navigate college applications and scholarship interviews. The Write Direction works to level the playing field for low and middle income students unable to afford private college counseling services.

Supervised all facets of day-to-day operations for business that publishes tax guides for individuals studying for the IRS’s Enrolled Agent exam. Study guides were Amazon’s number one tax law bestseller for three consecutive years. Wrote/edited more than 1,500 pages of technical tax material, with new editions published each March; provided personalized customer service and outreach to PassKey clients and industry professionals; coordinated all marketing and promotional efforts including development of the company’s social media platform; and created an extensive test bank of tax questions while overseeing beta testing of PassKey’s new website. Lead author of the textbook Federal Taxation of Individuals: 2013 Edition.

Managed a 70-person news department at ABC affiliate, with responsibility for overall editorial leadership and direction. Oversaw a $7 million annual news budget and worked closely with other department heads, especially in the areas of community service and promotion. Drove station’s ratings from a distant #3 to a solid #2 in early evening and late news.
