After a career change and a trans-Atlantic move, I run the office for a nine-teacher company that sends teachers into schools to recreate days in history for children. I oversee administration, sales, customer service and logistics.In my past life I was a magazine editor responsible for all aspects of planning and publishing two alumni magazines reaching more than 350,000 readers. I was also a writer with 20 years of industry experience ranging from spot news written on a tight deadline to in-depth feature articles. All of those skills still come into play as I oversee the website and marketing materials for our small history-focused company. The job change is not as off-the-wall as it might first seem. My interest has always been in history -- I have been a living historian demonstrating spinning, weaving and soapmaking, among other skills, since I was a child. I also wrote a local history column in Lakeland, Florida, for 15 years. To me, I'm simply blending all of my historical interests and writing skills into the perfect-for-me job.
