I am a Registered Planner and highly experienced community engagement practitioner, with over 20 years’ experience in the local government planning sector. I am also an alternate member of the Sydney and Regional Planning Panels. My strengths include strong communication and people skills which underpin my planning knowledge and result in effective community engagement exercises. I can holistically manage various stages of planning projects from the strategic planning phase, then moving through the consultation and into the development implementation. My experience includes a range of strategic, coastal, rural, environmental and economic planning both in a regional and city context. In addition to my regionally based experience in the Shoalhaven, I have experience in environmental planning with a large multi-disciplinary consulting firm and in strategic planning for some of Sydney’s fastest growing areas. At present, I undertake a range of strategic and statutory planning projects with Locale Consulting, and assist councils and communities to deliver on projects that respond to their needs – helping to bridge the gaps that can be present between the two. This is because I am passionate about local government and am committed to “grass roots” planning for the benefit of our communities. As a parent, community building is very important to me. My key interests are community engagement, local government policy and planning law. My achievements include award winning strategic planning documents for new release land areas. I have also overseen the development of a number of voluntary planning agreements (VPAs), been an expert witness in the Land & Environment Court and presented papers at a number of conferences. I am a Full Member of the Planning Institute of Australia (PIA) and hold the leading qualification in community engagement from IAP2.
