Cinnamon Bhayani is a Regulatory Supervision Officer with the Government of Canada in the Department of Finance.Recent LLM Osgoode Hall graduate Masters of Law in Banking and Financial Law, Toronto, Ontario (2020-2022). Cinnamon received a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from Simon Fraser University in 1999. She completed the Executive Development Program at Columbia University for Executive Education in 2019 and the Postgraduate Certificate Program for Women in Leadership from the SC Johnson School of Business at Cornell University. Her most recent academic endeavour began in September 2023. She is currently attending the eMBA program (Americas Stream) at SFU's Beedie School of Business. Past member of the Resident Advisory Committee for the Vancouver Foundation, reviewing small neighborhood grants and green grant proposals for six years. She is a current member of the Vancouver Métis Community Association. Vancouver City Council appointed her to the Urban Indigenous Peoples' Advisory Committee and the Civic Asset Naming Committee for a two-year term, which was completed in 2022. Former affiliations include the Vancouver Board of Trade, the Board of Directors for Richmond Youth Services Agency, and the Criminology Advisory Committee for Kwantlen Polytechnic University. Cinnamon also served on the Board of Directors for the BC Indigenous Housing Society, a non-profit organization providing safe, secure, and affordable housing for Indigenous peoples in Vancouver.Cinnamon has over 28 years of experience with the federal government, including 18 years with the Canada Border Services Agency. As a former Intelligence Officer with the Canada Border Services Agency, she interdicted multi-kilo drug shipments and interviewed known drug smugglers and suspected terrorists.
