From a young age I’ve always had an interest in the built environment and people’s connection to it. As the daughter of a builder, we moved house quite often and I quickly learnt that a great home or place wasn’t necessarily about the building but rather the people that occupied it. The smell, the vibe, the laughter and most importantly, the people.Helping people connect to the built environment has been my driving force ever since. As an urban planner and place maker I’ve had some influence over the layout and activation of new suburbs, developments, homes and town centres.My passion and interests lie in creating healthy and thriving places for our communities to do business, shop, live, work and recreate. With a background in urban planning and place making, I am a focussed, strategic and an outcome driven leader who thrives on working collaboratively with others to grow, deliver, add value and improve our places. My greatest joy is to deliver a project or an event in my town centre that brings a public space to life. To witness the transformation of a public space into the people’s space is really encouraging. I have a huge breath of experience and skills across everything from green field development, infill urban renewal projects, place making and activation. To give a few examples, master plan approvals for new suburban areas, mural and lighting installations and a local activation program. I have skills in negotiating balanced urban planning outcomes, business engagement, project management and administration of a special rate levy. My experience has ensured the continued support and investment in Melbourne’s west at both a state and local government level. This has resulted in significant investment in the installation of art murals, lighting, CCTV, business support during the pandemic and an activation program. I fully appreciate the challenges that the business community face in the current economic climate and am focussed on supporting its sustainability and growth. I am passionate about supporting local businesses and business associations to thrive and prosper.I am an active committee member of Mainstreet Australia which is focused on providing guidance, leadership and opportunities to its members to fulfil their role and positively contribute to the success of their main street. I am most proud of the businesses that participate in food tours we deliver in the St Albans Town Centre. Guests are always blown away by the hospitality and authenticity of the people and the place.
