Assistant Sales Manager
Assistant Sales Manager
Supervisor
I performed a variety of duties at the bakery ranging from day-to-day service such as cutting cake slices, ringing out customers, making espresso drinks and tidying up the bakery to more specific duties such as training new hires and putting in cake orders with the culinary center. On weekends and Mondays I was the acting Manager and therefore had opening and closing duties. Those duties included unloading cakes from the morning delivery, preparing orders for the day, counting the cash drawer and filling out the daily sales report with a summary of the day and total sales in the bakery, online and from tablet orders, such as DoorDash.
Senior Coordinator Business Development
As Senior Coordinator, I performed more duties tied to the new phone system. When supplemental sessions were needed, I facilitated multiple sessions to specific groups. Then I aided Supervisors and Administrators in their daily duties by helping them perform their daily duties. Thus, I became the main contact for troubleshooting prior to contacting the IT Department. I also assisted the IT Department with certain phone related duties such as setting up phone lines, activating new numbers and deactivating profiles and numbers when employees left the company. Beyond these phone related duties, I also used InDesign to create promotional materials for the Groups and Sales department. This led the creation of a few templates for the company to use in the future.
Assistant Manager Business Development
As Assistant Manager, I performed a variety of duties to prepare the company to transition to a new phone provider. I helped consolidate the list of phone numbers to be ported over to the new vendor for efficiency and lower costs. Additionally, I oversaw the Call Flow recordings and overall training for the whole company. During this time, I also revamped the English website.
Assistant Director
I worked closely with the Medical Programs Director to coordinate many events for the Summer Medical Exchange & Discovery (MED) program, which is hosted by Stanford University, as well as the Spring Exploring Healthcare (EHC) Program, which was mainly in San Francisco with day trips to Stanford University.MED Program:Together we welcomed medical students from top medical schools in Taiwan, China and Japan. Prior to their arrival we reached out to potential partners for panel discussions, special lectures and shadowing opportunities as well as created the program calendar. The programs itself are intense weeks and my duties shifted on a daily basis. When the Director took students to their shadowing sites, I made sure all the other students arrived to the planned lectures, assisted the lecturers in any technology support they required and facilitated sessions. My usual duties ranged from managing social media, coordinating organizational visits, creating spreadsheets for various activities and managing the web-based calendar. For the MED Program, we stayed at the Stanford dormitory, in which case my nightly duties often fell into that of a Resident Advisor.Post program, I work with the Director to create infographics for both the program report and for social media. We also worked on a new promotional video for prospective students.
Assistant Language Teacher
I assisted 3 to 7 Japanese teachers of English to plan, prepare materials and execute classes for a mid-high level high school in Fukuoka. My duties fell into the categories of preparing lessons, grading students' written work, pronunciation practice, creating exams, grading exams and recording my voice for the listening portion of final exams. Twice a year, during lunch time and after school, I was asked by various students to coach them for their English interviews of the proficiency exam, the EIKEN exam. Every summer I coached 2 students for the regional Recitation Contest. I also created and launched a Speech Writing program for the school to aid both the English teachers and the students for their annual Speech Contest. My writing program helped ease the students' anxiety about writing a speech in English by making it seem like simple little tasks that build up to 5 paragraph speech. At the end of my JET experience, I compiled all of the worksheets, along with sample worksheets and my personal notes, into a larger portfolio for the English teachers to continue using. I also ran the school's English Club. These after school activities changed on a weekly basis depending on students' interests. Reoccurring activities were: playing Jeopardy, where vocabulary was greatly emphasized; watching movies in English, where target grammar structures were pointed out; learning English songs; baking in English; doing an English play or movie for the school's Culture Festival; and Scrabble. The wide variety of activities and relaxed atmosphere increased club membership. In 2010, a small group of students wanted to exclusively practice English conversation and therefore their homeroom teacher and I co-founded the English Conversation Club. After 2 years, I assisted in mentoring new Japanese teachers on annual school events. For 3 years, I was confidentially requested to contribute and participate in the English portion of the high school entrance exam in Fukuoka.
