I have been an IT professional for 20+ years. During that time, I have done quite a few things as my primary responsibility, and taken on a plethora of side responsibilities and projects, My first official position out of college was with Ciber Technologies at GTE Data Services, where I was assigned to the network management group as the Y2K Testing & Certification engineer. While fulfilling these responsibilities, I taught myself (with help from our technical lead) HP Openview. This activity lead to my next position, as an employee of GTE in the NMS Group.. When I joined the NMS Group, it was as an HP Opeview Administrator. I had primarily responsibility for 2 HP Openiew systems. Over the course of the next 6 years, as an employee of Verizon, I taught myself quite a few things, and had help from my tech lead and some others. Before I left this position after approximately 6 years, I was the official group lead for more than 1/2 our products and found myself acting as the lead on many projects, as well as being a Perl and Lotus Notes developer.My next job found me serving as the primary Netcool Engineer for the entirety of The Walt Disney Company network footprint, including ABC/ESPN/Theme Parks/Retail Locations/etc. While there, I served as the Netcool Integration Expert on an executive dashboard application that was used by the Disney C-Level IT Executives. I also helped the NMS group out with their projects, including helping with HP Openview Integration to the dashboard. One of my personal highlights was the completion of a web application, comprised of thousands of lines of Perl code, which allowed the network engineers and support folks to search the complete syslog history in a number of ways to extract post-mortem outage data, SAS-70 audit data, etc.My last job jump came 2 years later. I was recruited for a job I had really wanted to hold, that of a consultant. During my 11 years in the position, I was fortunate enough to serve as both a project manager, as well as an engineer. I was recruited initially as a Netcool Engineer by a small consulting firm, who were in the process of being acquired by Alcatel-Lucent. I spent my first 4 years going from PM to Engineer, as needed, but primarily as a PM. My last 7 years, I worked as an Inegration Specialist for software related to cell service, as Alcatel-Lucent were themselves acquired by Nokia, who made the decision to drop Netcool as a product we implemented and supported.I am looking forward to my next challenges professionally!
