I am a Biomedical Engineering PhD student at Duke university, studying normothermic machine perfusion (NMP) of human and porcine lungs as a platform for pre-transplant graft regeneration and drug delivery.I previously worked as an isolated organ perfusionist at Revalia Bio, using surgical techniques and conducting NMP of human livers, kidneys, and lungs ex vivo. Building a database of human physiology, I collected samples, tested lead curative drugs on human disease models, and developed software to support perfusion research. After two and a half years, I recently graduated from Clemson University with a biochemistry major, chemistry minor, departmental honors in bioengineering, and a 4.0/4.0 GPA. As an undergraduate, I've been a part of multiple research projects, such as uncovering the molecular function of proteins involved in homology-directed repair (HDR) and lipid nanoparticle (LNP) delivery of the CRISPR-Cas9 system into hepatocytes to treat inherited metabolic disorders. Throughout my research, I've acquired skills in techniques like PCR, site-directed mutagenesis, gel electrophoresis, mRNA delivery, eukaryotic cell culture, flow cytometry, and gene editing. I have also gained experience in protocol development, research presentation, and technical writing through writing new procedures, presenting at symposiums, and authoring an undergraduate thesis.

Departmental Honors Undergraduate Research AssistantClemson University Bioengineering Jan 2022 - Dec 2022Clemson University, South Carolina, United StatesI worked under Dr. Cottle in Clemson's Bioengineering Department on optimizing the delivery of Cas9 mRNA and sgRNA using lipid nanoparticles in suspension to treat inherited metabolic disorders in the liver. -
Business OwnerArnold Drains Llc Apr 2020 - Dec 2021Greenville, South Carolina, United States- Worked 40-90 hours a week installing French and downspout drainage systems, advertising, building a website, organizing jobs, calculating costs, composing quotes, purchasing materials, and managing four employees to execute 15 jobs annually, including an installation for a local football stadium- Made many installation mistakes along the way, learning and adjusting quickly to unforeseen circumstances- Encountered new obstacles with every installation and learned to adapt quickly, creatively, and effectively- Learned the importance of fighting for the integrity of my product, even when cutting corners becomes tempting after 12-15 hour-long days digging in the summer heat.
