Design and implementation of sensor and actuator infrastructure for an autonomous vehicle (LandRover Defender). Automation done for clutch, gear, break and throttle systems. Festo automation products used, with a PC104 computer for the control.The Research Assistant position followed from my bachelor's thesis in the autonomous control of a LandRover defender. I worked independently and reported to Head of Vehicles Laboratory at the University of Pretoria.All work was documented for future researchers. Assembly and commissioning of a fatigue rig, including mechanical components and data capturing devices, for evaluating the in vivo lifespan of spinal implants.
