Took some time off from mechanical engineering to build my Python coding skills and teach myself machine learning and deep-learning AI.

- Designed ruggedized electronics enclosures for aerospace systems utilizing processes and materials such as: CNC machining, 3D printing, welding, sheet metal, aluminum, steel, magnesium, anodizing, paint, powder coating, component and assembly design, and detailed drawing creation

- Optics engineer for USB halo light guides used in Ford and Nissan vehicles. Defined LED and electrical requirements. Designed injection molded light guides to meet customer color, uniformity, and intensity specs. Performed ray trace analysis using LightTools and SPEOS- Lead engineer of an injection molded water resistant (IP54) USB charger cover for the 2020 Ford Bronco. Led engineering effort from concept design to mass-production of 500k annually - Worked directly with factory and suppliers in China to ensure parts meet mass production capacity- Designed and created 3D-printed and sand-casted electronics enclosure prototypes for proof-of-concept and new product developments

- Lead mechanical engineer of the 'Pan and Tilt' electro-mechanical actuator used for tilting and rotating the external HD cameras on the International Space Station (ISS). Wrote and maintained all project documentation (test procedures, piece-part drawings, assembly drawings). Communicated project status and lead design reviews with customers (NASA, Boeing, L-3). Performed testing and implemented design changes to ensure part met performance space performance requirements. Actuator was successfully installed on the ISS (see attached space walk article).- Designed electro-mechanical actuation systems for use in commercial and business aerospace applications, military vehicles, and spacecraft- Managed the Product Life Cycle from design and development to production- Communicated directly with customers on project status, technical issues, and preliminary and critical design reviews- Developed BOMs, 2D layouts, 3D models, and piece-part and assembly drawings using AutoCAD and Inventor- Performed stress, tolerance, and finite element analyses on mechanical components- Reviewed customer requirements, developed conceptual designs, performed cost analysis, and prepared technical presentations in support of new business proposals- Provided sustaining engineering support for products in the production phase- Performed testing, troubleshooting and utilized 8D, 5 why, and fishbone diagrams in support of root cause and corrective action analyses- Reviewed technical drawings to ensure proper dimensioning and tolerances, including GD&T, per ASME Y14.5- Worked within cross functional teams to deliver quality products meeting all customer requirements- Advised test technicians and engineers in the development of test procedures and reports per MIL-STD-810 and RTCA/DO-160G

- Supported the design and development of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)as a member of the Mechanical Test Group- Designed an automated test fixture for measuring rotary actuator backlash. The control software was written in Matlab. The data analysis tools were written using Python, pandas, NumPy, and Matplotlib- Devised, planned, and executed qualification tests for five different linear and rotary actuators per MIL-STD-810- Modeled test fixtures using Pro/E (CREO) and generated detailed drawings for inputto suppliers and machine shops- Used PTC Windchill for 3D CAD repository, version control, and change requests- Debugged LabView code used on automated load test stands

- Assisted in the design and construction of communication devices ranging from small handheld devices to commercial satellites
