I manage teams of expert developers in the LIMS and web collaboration space. We develop custom LIMS software as well as use commercial LIMS and ELN products to serve our laboratory clients at the National Institutes of Health. Some of the areas we specialize in are: data management and visualization, laboratory workflow analysis, LIMS software development, ELNs (Electronic Lab Notebooks), and the configuration and administration of commercial LIMS and SharePoint sites for our laboratory clients.

Communication and data sharing among research team members presents a challenge often compounded by physical separation of members located in different buildings, facilities, or clinical trial field sites. As a Collaboration Technology Strategist I built custom SharePoint sites, forms, and workflows that enabled laboratory research teams to automate their routine lab business processes.

Contractor for Lockheed Martin at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). I manage communications and outreach for the Office of Cyber Infrastructure and Computational Biology's Bioinformatics and Computational Biosciences Branch (BCBB) and work to promote the use of customized collaborative web sites among research groups.

International Sales Manager – Trained international distributors on sales and technical support through on-line and in person seminars, annual distributor meetings, and regular email updates. Trained distributors in Europe and Japan with on-site sales and technical seminars. Grew company’s international sales by 66% within a one year period.Technical Communication Specialist – Managed promotions and marketing communications, including the design of brochures, newsletters, and email templates. Negotiated with scientific publications on pricing and availability of ad placements. Responsible for company branding on web site, marketing materials, and company literature. Managed a major project to overhaul the company’s branding with an integrated design for all of the printed literature and web site contents.

Plant Analysis Group: Designed and developed genetic tests for the detection and tracking of genetically modified plants, which has resulted in six United States Provisional Patent Applications to date (not yet publicly available). Authored technical reports and standard operating procedures for use in field testing stations and served as contact person for troubleshooting.

Insect Control Group: Managed research group’s plant testing for genetically modified crop lines. Helped determine which crop lines would receive additional research and development resources and would be promoted through company’s commercial pipeline. Provided technical support for multiple crop field stations on a national level.

Crop Disease Diagnostics Group: Developed DNA-based disease testing methods for crop samples and co-authored patent applications for these tests, which resulted in six United States Patents and three United States Patent Applications. Responsible for US crop disease testing program which included training of lab personnel and providing technical support for program customers. Responsible for on-location training of testing laboratories in the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.

Novartis Biotechnology and Genomics Center: Performed highly technical experiments to assess the viability of a novel method for providing beneficial traits to crops through the use of genetically modified bacteria. Responsible for summarizing testing results and presenting results to research group.
