I am an Actuarial Science Capstone student at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. My goal is to find an entry level Actuary position and pass SOA exams to earn my ASA. Through the Capstone program, I am expecting to have exams P, FM, FAM, and ALTAM exams passed. In May 2024, I graduated with a major of B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and minors in Mathematics and Physics. I realized that engineering may not be the right career path for me, so I did some research about the Actuary field. I admire how actuaries can use their math skills to analyze large data sets and come to conclusions. The challenging aspect and usefulness actuaries can bring to the workforce is why I want to continue down the career path.Between school years, I worked at some engineering companies to gain experience. The most recent position I had was a summer internship with the construction company 1901 INC in Madison, WI. I worked as a project manager assistant for sites on the EPIC campus and Mendota Juvenile Center. Before that internship, I worked a few jobs in my hometown of Bainbridge Island, WA. I worked at a different construction company called BIOS with a team of four on remodeling people's homes. I became proficient with various useful construction tools for floors, doors, trim, and caulking. My work experience has created the leader that I am today and improved my problem solving skills.Through my jobs and education, I have learned skills, earned awards, and discovered my interests. My software experience includes Python, C++, Solidworks, Matlab, R-Studio, Simulink, Moldex3D, and Excel. I am a part of the UW Madison Actuarial Science Club, chess club, and Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity at the University of Wisconsin. My interests are hiking Wisconsin parks, attending church, reading The Bible in a year, playing basketball, online chess, solving different analytical puzzles, and creating excel projects. I am proud of my achievements and want to continue with my problem-solving mindset to advance my career as an Actuary.
