Bottom line up front: engaged, aggressive altruism relying on innovation excites me. From bomb disposal to medicine, I believe service to humanity is essential to a meaningful life. Growing up in unremarkable rural New York circumstances, the universe gifted me a career in US Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) circa 1980. After my initial stint in the Navy, I went on a 15 year international academic walkabout…from Corporate Japan, Commercial Diving, medicine, and global university faculties; I helped people. After inadvertently earning a plethora of graduate degrees, 9/11 happened, and I was back in the Navy bomb disposal world. Retiring in 2017, I became a Senior Department of Defense EOD expert, ensnared in PPTX, heroic administrative battles, and occasional paper cuts. If sitting is the new smoking, I was up to three packs a day. We do not need a bigger head, we need bigger arms, and we need it forward, in the field, generating revenue, and most importantly saving lives.Frankly, I am not too interested in talking about degrees, military awards, or material possessions. What I really want to get at is results. I left the desk commando life to work with unconventional NGOs offering a future filled with putting beans back in the jar.
