I shadowed physical therapists in the office to learn the ins and outs of physical therapy beginning the winter break of my Freshman year in college. As I shadowed more, I learned more about the field, and grew an appreciation for the importance of human movement. This experience shaped my future career choice and lead me to learn more about exercise, health, and physical therapy. I would return for an internship the following summer to intern as a physical therapy aide. I observed physical therapists treat patients with modalities, exercises, massage therapy, electrical stimulation, and various other interventions at the office. I completed my internship and returned to volunteer during breaks throughout my undergraduate career, learning more, and growing as a professional.

This was an in-patient facility where there were a variety of patients of different health levels. I observed mostly physical therapists, but also the other medical professionals who were part of the rehabilitation team. I watched their treatments and followed their reasoning and expertise to increase my knowledge of rehabilitation.
