The opportunity arose from working with The Surfrider Foundation to join The Ocean Ambassadors on a six month sailing trip throughout the South Pacific. The trip was designed to educate small island nations of the dangers of plastic pollution and offer affordable and profitable solutions for waste remediation. During this time we conducted beach clean ups and presentations with local schools, demonstrations on how to turn plastic into sweet crude oil, and educational information nights for the community to attend. I also assisted in product design and all the tasks necessary to keep the boat in order. This experience provided me with many skills such as coordinating events with short notice, the ability to problem solve (often in times of severe peril), and to face any adversity with an objective, positive attitude.
