As a part time instructor of History I extended the reach of my connection to the classroom by cutting edge instructional approaches and technology to help students succeed. However, the most beneficial element of this opportunity stemmed in the way it has led me to greater comprehension for what it means to be college ready. Eventually, I was recruited to become a college academic advisor in addition to my teaching duties. As Special Projects Coordinator, I was the lead Academic Adviser on the New Bedford Campus. In this role in managed the staffing and organization of the Academic Advising office on a satellite campus as well as serving as the evening administrator for operations. I built countless supportive relationships with students and faculty resulting in increased academic attainment. As Principal of the inmate education program, I directed a highly successful program in which adult learners gain an important series of tools useful upon their return to society. I developed a series of programs and approaches that resulted in a 500% increase in the number of GED's earned annually, raised the level of educational attainment and mentored young men and women towards a more hopeful and safe future. My formal roles included budget development and oversight, personnel decisions and evaluation, curriculum and instructional leadership and program design. Some of my budgetary decisions increased the program capacity to serve while others provided instructional resources aligned with current educational and career practice. Other program decisions resulted in collaborations with local and regional school agencies each serving to make the whole greater than the sum of fiscal parts.

I taught World and American History to students at Westport High School, while also serving as the Student Council Advisor and a leading member of the faculty.

I taught World History and founded an Advanced Placement World History program for a rural school.
