Profile bio

About Chris Hamel

Hi, I am Chris Hamel. Trained as a geologist, I am passionate about geology, the business of mineral exploration, data driven decision making, and development of people. Initially drawn to this business for the thrill of discovery, I have found that helping others to achieve their goals is also rewarding. As a mineral exploration geologist I have a unique perspective on team building and the importance of workplace communication to ignite creativity and foster innovation. I derive satisfaction from both my contribution to an organization, and even more from helping to make the people around me better. My other passions in life (after my family) are cooking, photography, and motorcycles. I pursue these interests to recharge and be the best that I can be at work, or at home. Motorcycling is meditative, it clears baggage and stress and leaves me ready to pursue life's challenges. I find that cooking is responsive to the needs of my family, and allows for personal exploration and skill development, while expanding the shared tastes and experiences of my family. Photography demands technical skill and patience to be both expressive and interesting, and opportunity lies within every failure. My personal values are Integrity, Excellence, and Communication. Integrity means that coworkers are treated fairly, and business resources are respected. Excellence applies to the work that either I or my teams perform. My personal mantra concerning Communication is "100% of expectations not communicated, are not met". It is important to arm a team with a vision of success so that they can use their own initiative, experience and expertise to be innovative and efficient at performing tasks. Thanks for reading, if you like my personal brand of leadership, passion for success, science background, geological skill, and work ethic, do not hesitate to connect with me. I am interested in opportunities to help organizations achieve the most out of their greatest asset, their people.

Listed skills include Geology, Mineral Exploration, Uranium, Geological Mapping, and 37 others.

Chief Geologist

Working with the project team, the first task I was able to complete at UEX was the development of a geology interpretation for Christie Lake / Yalowega trend that has helped to guide exploration in 2017. I have enjoyed working with the project team as they continue to refine the geology interpretation since its generation as they continue to add data along the trend. I take delight in the assessment of exploration targets that UEX Corporation has within its portfolio. These targets are not limited to uranium showings, and include experience in other commodities that I have not worked with before. I have been empowered to develop target concepts and target areas within our portfolio. The ultimate goal is to add value to UEX through this assessment and advance as many prospects towards discovery as possible.Streamlining communication, this role supports the Exploration Manager and CEO by mentoring project teams in how they explore and communicate the results. This role also supports the project teams by helping them to understand their role and how to best manage exploration resources for the benefit of the company and shareholders.
