Reporting directly to the Controller as the Lead, Financial Reporting I am responsible for leading my team to meet all of PetroChina Canada's (PCC's) financial reporting requirements. My team's responsibilities include: - Year-end audited financial statements, - Technical and complex accounting guidance,- Monthly reporting to management and PCC's parent company, - Co-ordinating communications with overseas parent company,- SAP FI/CO master data maintenance and administration, and- Asset accounting including ARO, DD&A, Impairment, and the related policies and reporting. PCC's assets include a wide range of O&G Industry asset types located in both Alberta and BC including: Oil sands in-situ facilities, mid-stream (including the LNG Canada project currently under development), and conventional Oil and Gas wells.

Brion's assets include a wide range of asset types located in both Alberta and BC including: Oil sands, facilities, mid-stream, and conventional Oil and Gas wells.

Hired on to utilize my knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP and IT systems to help the accounting and accounting systems departments prepare for the BHE transaction. Duties and accomplishments included:- Performing a full IFRS to US GAAP conversion analysis and the preparation of the white papers to document and support the conclusions. Audit of the analysis yielded no audit differences.- Designed and implemented an excel consolidation model that takes multiple trial balances and an account mapping file, converts the information to US GAAP, and creates an upload file for HFM. Additionally the model produces financial statements showing the original information in IFRS, the US GAAP adjustments, and the US GAAP format as it appears in HFM reports.- Worked with the accounting systems department to develop and implement an updated Business Planning and Consolidation process to replace the excel consolidation model.

My experience at KPMG has included auditing and providing accounting advisory services for Oil and Gas companies. I have been responsible for auditing numerous IFRS conversions where I have developed my knowledge of the newly implemented standards and how they affect the Oil and Gas industry from the industry leading Oil and Gas public accounting firm in Calgary. Additionally, my recent experience has included working with US GAAP Oil and Gas firms providing Accounting Advisory Services. Through these experiences I have gained a deep understanding of the accounting issues and processes of the industry. As part of my tenure with KPMG I have audited various types of Oil and Gas firms including domestic, international, group engagements where I was required to communicate component instruction to other auditors, companies in the both the exploration and producing phases, as well as companies on both sides of the purchase and sales of Oil and Gas assets and entire subsidiaries.I have used the IFRS and US GAAP knowledge that I have acquired to regularly act as a consultant for clients. I have consulted on topics such as on how to implement IFRS and US GAAP in various areas including: the calculation of decommissioning liabilities, IFRS and US GAAP financial statement presentation, determination of cash generating units, the revised rules for calculating stock-based compensation, accounting for equity accounted subsidiaries reporting under a different framework, and the changes in the calculation of impairment and depletion.
