Parking - This is an on-call year round part time position through the Del Mar Fairgrounds traffic management department for special events. As part of the Art gallery staff on a yearly basis we present to the public a display of artwork in various mediums. This year we had over 1500 entries and only around 650 were accepted. The art is judged in categories which range from traditional watercolors and acrylics to sculptures and recycled art. There is also a theme category which changes each year which is fair specific like this year "Mad about the Fair" - Alice in Wonderland & Steampunk theme.. Prior to the fair we are busy at work converting the Del Mar Racetrack grounds into an art gallery including walls, lighting, arrangement and decorations as well as hanging, placing & judging all the artwork. The fair kicks off with a pre-party celebration for all the artists to socialize and find out who faired well in the judging. Then during the fair we turn into curators and give docent tours explaining some of the background on the judging process and artists. we also hold private demonstrations when each day when artists provide direct one on one or group demos for those interested. I'm told this art exhibit gallery is one of the biggest annual art shows on the west coast. This a large 3 day musical festival which includes some of the latest as well as past great bands from all over the world. As part of the local year round Del Mar Fairgrounds crew our main focus is parking and traffic directing detail for the 40,000+ visitors but when asked by Kaaboo staff we fill in where needed. In 2019 I was asked to help supervise the UBER sponsored drop off area, one of the main public ways to get into the event.
